We finally got smart and Sam-proofed a few things in the kitchen. The broiler drawer on the oven is taped shut, the heavy step stool is blocking the cabinets under the sink, the bathroom door is always closed (which poses a minor problem for those last minute potty-trained gals), and the trash can has simply been removed. Jon managed to get a baby lock on one of the drawers, but only after much struggle and a declaration that the cheap cabinets in our kitchen are made out of some unnatural, impenetrable material.
