How to Break a Mumma's Heart

I heard a loud bang! and then a hysterical Sophia came into the bathroom, where I was doing laundry. Through her cries, I was able to ascertain that she had bit her tongue when she fell and it was bleeding a bit. I gave her my best motherly hug and rocked her as she cried.
Then, with a sad, sweet, serious voice she said, "Mumma, can you watch out for me?"
My heart melted.
I'm trying baby.
oh, how I'm trying.
