Off to the Island...

Well, the packing has begun!
We will soon be off on vacation to a tropical island with relatives. The kids will have three cousins, two uncles, one aunt, a grammy, and a grampy to play with for a week! Beats being home with mom and dad, especially with all the wet weather we've had this summer. We're all very excited for this trip.
There have been many preparations leading up to this adventure. We checked books out of the library about planes -- as this will be the first plane ride for all three kids. We've gone shopping for sunblock and swimsuits. We even traveled to an island for a camping trip (a coincidence, but it gave us a chance to see an island up close). The little developing brains continue to try and wrap themselves around the whole concept of an island.
Sophia repeatedly asks questions. Our latest exchange about the island went like this...
Sophia: Do we have to hold on?
Me: No, it won't move like a boat.
Sophia: Will the island be hooked to the ground?
Me: The island is the ground, Honey. It's just like standing on the ground here, but you'll see lots of ocean all around.
Sophia: (getting a bit exasperated) No -- are you ready to understand me?

Airplane advice:
1) go to the dollar store and buy 2 or 3 new things for the kids on the plane.
2) Have them go to the bathroom in the airport and hold off on the plane bathrooms as long as possible. The first time Teresa heard the plane toilet flush, she had a fit like something out of a horror film.
3) Keep them confined in their seats as long as possible. If you LET them get up, they will WANT to get up.
4) PRAY
Good luck with that...
(Can't WAIT to see pictures!!)
Have a good time, and looking forward to the report :)
As I am writing, you are enjoying the Virgin Islands :)
I am sure this will be a memorable trip with lots of blog updates. Can't wait to see!
Love, AC
